Ingredient Notes
The exact quantities of the ingredients you need for this recipe are included in the recipe card at the bottom of this post. Here, I’ve added a few notes on the ingredients you need, plus a few potential substitutions you could make if you can’t eat/find a certain ingredient.
- Flatbread: I opt for the oval-shaped flatbreads for this recipe, but you could go for the extra-large flatbreads to enjoy your pizza family-style.
- Garlic Butter: Garlic butter is an optional addition, but it does elevate your flatbread a lot! Leave it out if you want lower calories.
- Sun-dried tomato pesto: The sun-dried tomato pesto (red pesto) adds amazing flavor to this flatbread pizza recipe. Alternatively, you could use tomato paste, green pesto, a marinara sauce or just leave it out entirely.
- Cheese: This flatbread pizza recipe uses fresh sliced mozzarella. You just use shredded mozzarella, but I wouldn’t recommend another type of cheese as mozzarella melts the best!
- Toppings: Use whatever toppings you like best on your pizza for your own flatbread pizza. I used zucchini, sun-dried tomatoes, green olives, and red onion for this recipe.
- Other additions: After cooking your pizza, a final drizzle of balsamic glaze, hot honey, and some fresh basil takes your flatbread pizza from good to amazing. They’re optional additions, but worth it if you have them!
Variations & Substitutions
This recipe is extremely versatile. You can add whatever toppings you have available, such as:
- Sweetcorn
- Bell peppers
- A mix of cheeses
- A meat substitute
- Mushrooms
- Jalapenos
- Thinly sliced potatoes
