Ingredient Notes
You'll find exact amounts in the recipe card below, but here's a breakdown of key ingredients and possible swaps:
- Falafel - Use my homemade falafel recipe for the best results. Store-bought works too, but homemade falafel has a better texture and flavor.
- Lebanese-style wraps - These are soft, pliable, and slightly thinner than pita. If unavailable, swap for large tortillas or Greek pita.
- Tahini Garlic Sauce - Made with tahini, lemon, garlic, and water, this sauce brings everything together. If you want a creamier version, add a spoonful of Greek yogurt.
- Pickled Red Cabbage & Pickles - These add tangy crunch. Swap for store-bought or use pickled turnips or onions.
- Hot Sauce - Optional but highly recommended! Try sriracha, harissa, or even a mild garlic chili sauce.
Variations & Substitutions
- Make it vegan - This recipe is already vegan, but you can add dairy-free yogurt to the tahini sauce for extra creaminess.
- Add hummus - Swap the tahini sauce for hummus or roasted red pepper hummus.
- Extra protein? Add grilled halloumi or crispy tofu.
- Make it spicy - Use extra hot sauce, harissa, or chili flakes in the tahini dressing.

How To Make a Falafel Wrap
The full recipe is below, but here's an overview with some tips:
1. Make the Tahini Garlic Sauce
In a bowl, whisk together minced garlic, tahini, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. Slowly add cold water until you reach a smooth, pourable consistency.
2. Warm the Wraps
Heat the flatbreads in a dry pan for 30 seconds per side or wrap them in foil and warm them in the oven.
3. Assemble the Wrap
Place the falafel along the middle of the wrap and gently squash them with a fork. Add lettuce, tomato, cucumber, pickled cabbage, pickles, and fresh parsley.
4. Drizzle & Wrap
Drizzle with tahini garlic sauce and hot sauce. Fold up the bottom, then fold in the sides to secure everything in place. Wrap in foil or parchment paper for easy handling.
Top Tips \ Chef's Notes
Here are a few top tips I've picked up while testing and trialing this recipe!
- Use warm falafel - Freshly made falafel tastes best when warm and crispy.
- Don't overfill the wrap - It might be tempting, but keeping it manageable makes wrapping easier.
- Toast the wrap after rolling - For extra crispiness, lightly toast the rolled wrap in a dry pan for 1-2 minutes per side.
- Make the tahini sauce ahead - It stays good in the fridge for up to a week.

Storage
Store unassembled ingredients separately for up to 3 days in the fridge for best results. Keep the falafel and veggies in airtight containers.
Reheating Falafel: Warm in an oven or air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes to keep them crispy.
How To Serve?
- Classic Wrap - Eat it as is, wrapped in foil or parchment for easy handling.
- Falafel Gyro Style - Add a spoonful of tzatziki or Greek yogurt.
- Falafel Platter - Skip the wrap and serve everything on a plate with extra hummus and pita chips.
